Public profile policy

How ownership, publication permission, corrections and removal work.

Editorial references

Editors may list a public website with a factual description written from its own homepage, without publishing an assessment. Each listing has a page of its own showing what one request to the public homepage returned, its archive history and its domain identity. These entries are labelled not assessed and do not claim owner verification, permission or endorsement. Operator-owned sites are disclosed. No private reports, scores or findings are imported. Request corrections or removal free of charge at hey@websites.new.

Private until you choose

Saving a site or running an assessment does not publish it. To create a public profile, prove control of the exact hostname, preview the complete snapshot, give explicit approval and wait for staff review. Every new snapshot needs its own approval.

What becomes public

The approved hostname, description, dated score, eight pillar findings and selected evidence become readable by anyone. Approved score history may appear with the current snapshot. Your account email, private report addresses, claim records and raw crawl data are excluded. Read the full preview before approving it.

Domain control and renewal

Use a DNS TXT record, an HTTPS verification file or a meta tag in the homepage head. Each record belongs to your account and expires after seven days. Verification lasts 90 days; the profile and its badge become unavailable when it expires. Verification proves control of a hostname, not business legitimacy or safety.

Withdrawal and transfers

You can withdraw a listing from its ownership page at any time. Removal delegates can withdraw it too, but cannot publish, transfer ownership or access your private reports. Releasing ownership or an approved ownership transfer removes the public listing. A new owner receives no previous private reports or publication permission. Copies already downloaded or cached elsewhere cannot be recalled.

Corrections and disputes

Corrections, removals and ownership reviews are free. Submit a request from your dashboard or email hey@websites.new without creating an account. Staff record a reason for each decision. A conflicting ownership claim requires fresh proof and staff review; proof alone does not replace an existing owner.

What a score means

These are dated, automated assessments of sampled public pages. AI-supported results can vary. The current method uses eight pillars and is labelled Legacy eight-pillar assessment. Scores are not scam verdicts, security certificates or accessibility certifications. Payment cannot change a score or a moderation decision.

Directory visibility

Public profiles are readable by anyone. Directory discovery and search indexing require a separate choice for each approved snapshot, sufficient recent evidence and a separate staff indexing release. Earlier pilot profiles stay out of indexing until their owner approves a new snapshot with directory permission. Withdrawal also removes entries from directory search, feeds, collections and sitemaps. Search engines and other services may retain their own copies.

Records and erasure

Claim records, publication approvals and submitted requests remain in your account until deletion or an erasure request. Withdrawal removes public access but keeps your approval history privately. Deleting an account removes its ownership and publication records from the live database. Staff action logs keep the hostname, action and reason with the deleted actor unlinked, subject to review on erasure requests. Backups and email providers follow their own retention schedules.
